How Traditional Chinese Medicine Shaped My Journey to Mindful Coffee and Tea

Growing up in Singapore, I had asthma as a child. I remember my grandmother taking me to the local Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) store, where she would carefully select ingredients to make nourishing soups. Cordyceps, Reishi, and other herbs were staples and not just remedies, but part of a philosophy that aimed to balance heatiness, yin and yang, and wet and dry within the body.

While modern science may not fully explain the effects, these practices have been passed down for centuries as part of a holistic approach to health. For me, the experience wasn’t just about treatment. It was about ritual, mindfulness, and connection. Sitting at my grandmother’s table, tasting soups rich with herbs, I learned to appreciate the subtle power of balance in everyday life.

This early exposure to TCM planted a seed that would later grow into my love for mindful rituals. When I discovered specialty coffee and high-quality teas, I realized that I could merge these two worlds of the grounded, thoughtful approach of TCM and the sensory, daily experience of coffee and tea.

Our brand was born from this philosophy. Each cup, whether it’s our Reishi Dark Kopi, Mushroom Medium Coffee, or Ceremonial Matcha with Mushrooms — blends Lion’s Mane, Cordyceps, and Reishi with specialty coffee or tea. The goal isn’t to cure or treat, but to invite a moment of balance, focus, and calm into your day.

A Note on Safety and Tradition:
While TCM has a long-standing history and many people find ritual and dietary benefits, these practices are not a substitute for professional medical advice, and there is limited clinical evidence supporting the health claims of these mushrooms. Our blends are intended as a culinary and mindful experience, honoring tradition and flavor.

By combining the wisdom of TCM with carefully sourced coffee and tea, we aim to create products that feel grounding, intentional, and uniquely Asian. For me, it’s about carrying forward a childhood lesson of balance, care, and ritual.
